Cheap flights to Cyprus are now available for United Kingdom holidaymakers from Gatwick and Manchester airports via EasyJet to Larnaca and Paphos airports.

Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean and is a popular destination for British tourists and expats with holiday homes on the island. The four and a half hour flying time from the UK has previously been a barrier for low cost airlines, but EasyJet are now offering routes to both Paphos and Larnaca International airports on the island.

Cheap Cyprus Flights

EasyJet’s Paphos routes started operation in April 2008 when the airline took over GB Airways, the former franchise partner of British Airways. Initially, the company trialled the routes from Manchester and Gatwick as they were bought as part of a bigger package to take over multiple GB Airways landing slots at these major UK airports.

Passenger numbers have been so high that EasyJet recently named Larnaca as one of four new routes from London Gatwick for summer 2009, offering a lifeline to Cypriot tour operators and hotel owners currently struggling due to current economic conditions.

Cost of Cyprus Cheap Flights

EayJet’s prices start from £39.99 for a one way flight to Larnaca and £40.99 to Paphos. There are limited numbers of seats at these prices so the average is around £80 one way if booked reasonably well in advance. But this is still far cheaper than the average price of £250 return offered by both the big charter companies and scheduled airlines.

EasyJet’s Flight Schedule to Larnaca and Paphos

There are daily flights to and from Paphos and the new Larnaca route will operate four times per week. Flights can be booked either one way or return, offering flexibility versus charter airlines where customers often have to book either 7 or 14-day tickets. EasyJet customers can also benefit from cheap car hire offered by sister company EasyCar and in Larnaca, visitors also have the option of an ultra cheap hotel with the latest Easy brand offer to hit Cyprus from EasyHotel.

EasyJet Pros and Cons

Prices are cheap but flying on a no frills basis means accepting some sacrifices. Baggage costs an additional £6 and excess baggage is charged at £6 per kilo if pre-booked online. Passengers only get to choose their seats once through the boarding gate and on flight food and beverages are paid for at a premium. Plus legroom is squeezed to maximise passenger numbers, not always pleasant on what is a short but longer than average haul flight.

Cheap Cyprus Holidays

Whilst a low cost flight is key for a cheap holiday in Cyprus, budget strapped tourists can also save money by taking a package deal where a cheap flight is thrown in to lure customers into booking hotel and car hire as one inclusive deal. Alternatively, do what most customers do and book a cheap flight and cheap hotel online through one of the many online hotel booking sites like Hotelscombined or Kayak.

Despite any no frills shortcomings, EasyJet’s cheap flight prices to Cyprus are proving popular with budget-conscious holidaymakers who are booking up seats quickly.
